Sexual exploitation of children is a current and important issue. ECPAT Germany has re-launched its online training for tourism professionals, students, and trainees. The online training should enable participants to assess suspicious situations correctly and to address them in an appropriate way.
The training in German, English and French consists of three modules that take about 30 minutes to complete.
The first module provides basic knowledge and definitions of sexual exploitation of children in tourism and explains the international legal framework. The second module includes instruments to engage against the sexual exploitation of children in travel and tourism. Here, tourism professionals also learn how to behave towards potential perpetrators and victims when observing suspicious situations. Both modules include final quizzes. By answering correctly, participants can obtain a certificate to prove their qualification in the topic. In the final module, participants can act out situations and learn how to react in a travel agency, as a tour guide and as an employee of a tour operator.
