Policy Advisor for Tourism and Development at Bread for the World
Alien Spiller has been Policy Advisor for Tourism and Development and Head of Tourism Watch at Brot für die Welt since June 2024. She brings an interdisciplinary background to her role: After obtaining her diploma in Business Administration with a specialization in Tourism Economics, she pursued further studies in Public Affairs and completed a part-time Master's degree in Strategic Sustainability Management, with a research focus as well as practical projects on sustainable consumption. Following initial professional experience in market research, Alien spent several years working in international relations, with a special emphasis on South Africa. At Tourism Watch, she leverages this expertise to promote socially and ecologically responsible tourism, strengthening its political and social significance.
Sonja Niedecken

Project Coordinator Economic Affairs and Sustainability at Bread for the World
Sonja Niedecken is a political scientist with a Bachelor's degree in European Studies and a Master's degree in International Relations and Diplomacy. She has extensive experience in international development cooperation, gained through her work with GIZ and Plan International Germany. At Plan International Germany, she most recently worked on a project focused on vocational training for young women, including in the tourism sector, with an emphasis on improving working conditions and promoting decent work. Since November 2024, Sonja has been part of the Tourism Watch team.
Christina Kamp

Freelance editor for Tourism Watch
Christina Kamp holds a degree in business administration with a focus on tourism, regional, and settlement development. She is a trade journal editor and a state-certified English translator. Since 1998, she has worked as a freelance journalist and translator with a focus on tourism and development. Among other roles, she has been a freelance editor for Tourism Watch since 2006.
Lea Thin

Freelance Editor for Tourism Watch
Lea Thin is a geographer and works on the topics climate change, gender and development policy. After research experiences in Colombia and Tajikistan, she supported Germany's public appearance at the UN Climate Conferences in Bonn and Katowice. Since 2018 she has professionalized in political communications and presents the commitment of ministries and NGOs to a bigger audience. In 2019 she joined the Tourism Watch team as a freelance editor researching at the nexus of development and tourism.
