At an "International Forum on Alternative Tourism" held in November in Cambodia, the Asiaand Pacific Alliance of YMCAs (APAY) discussed current challenges in tourism and formulated strategic directions on alternative tourism. As Heinz Fuchs reports, the acronym "CHANGE" used by the YMCA stands for a community centred tourism that follows a holistic approach, advocates global citizenship and global networking, is gender sensitive and economically viable. The programmes already developed and yet to be developed under the slogan "Go with YMCA – Make a CHANGE" are to be implemented in cooperation with community based tourism initiatives. In Cambodiaalone, there are more than 40 community based projects that could be potential partners.
