On the occasion of 9th November, the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, NGOs in Germany and Switzerland launched an initiative to raise awareness on the situation in Palestine and the role of tourism in the Holy Land. At www.fairunterwegs.org, the Swiss Working Group on Tourism & Development has set up an action platform on Palestine. The Palestinian Initiative for Responsible Tourism (PIRT) has developed a “Code of Conduct of Tourism in the Holy Land”. The tourist guidebook “Palestine & Palestinians” published by the Alternative Tourism Group (ATG) helps visitors to discover Palestine. As a book written by Palestinians, it provides Palestinian perspectives on “justice tourism” and offers in-depth information on history, architecture and religion as well as politics. A German edition of this book is to be published in February as "Palästina Reisehandbuch".
